5 Things that are Holding you away from Success

We all want to succeed in different areas of our life, but a big percentage of the population can’t find the path to success. If you want to see what’s holding you back and how to overcome those things, take a look at the following 5 major things that kill dreams and make you to be average.

1. Comfort zone

If you want to succeed in any field of your life, you’ll have to get out of your comfort zone. Success comes when your personal boundaries are pushed and when you have the knowledge that will help you achieve your goals and reach your targets.

For all these things you have to work hard to grow. Staying in your comfort zone will make you feel fine, but you’ll remain the same person that you were 10 years ago.

Avoiding difficult situations might be one of the things that will hold you away from success. When you face a problem and you fight to solve it, you’ll grow and learn new things.

Comfort zones won’t teach you how to fight fear and reach success. It holds you away from your true potential and it also kills dreams. Everything you do in your daily routine that doesn’t challenge you can be considered a destructive habit. They don’t make you grow and develop, that’s why you need to make changes if you want something new in your life.

2. Avoiding to take risks

It’s clear that one of the rules for success is to take risks and to try as many things as possible. This way you’ll figure out if things work the way you thought. If they don’t, you have to adjust and try a new approach.

When you take risk, you are actually exposed to the danger in something that has a certain value for you or for your business.  You could lose that thing, but you’re aware of this. If you play safe, you won’t achieve your dreams, so risking and pushing the limit might be a way to your personal success. It’s not guaranteed, but this is a better approach if you really want to live a better life.

It’s always important to see the bright side in every situation: if you win, you’re prepared. If you lose, you need to continue to learn and to try again. Learn how to fight the fear of losing and you’ll be more open to new challenges.

3. Low self-confidence

If you lack confidence, it will make you avoid certain situations or people you’re not comfortable with.

Low self-confidence can be translated by hesitation, weak verbal communication, bad body language, doubt or fear of rejection.

Combined, all these things will keep you away in life. If you want to avoid situations where you think of yourself in a negative way, you need to overcome your low self-confidence.

Dress nicely, kill the negative vibes around you, think positive, and you’ll see good things happening in your life. It’s all about the way you see yourself: if you see yourself as a successful person, this is what you’ll become.

4. Waiting for the right moment

Yesterday is gone and tomorrow isn’t promised, so now can be the right moment. If you still wait for a confirmation before you start to do something, you’ll lose every chance you get.

Waiting for the right moment is a major thing that holds you back from achieving success in your career or personal life. Many people procrastinate by thinking that tomorrow will be a better day and they’ll have more courage to start working on their dreams. This is just a trap that kills happiness.

If you really want to succeed, you need to start now. As we said before, procrastination is one of the habits that are holding you from success.  In fact, being successful implies to do the things you’re afraid to do, no matter how hard it is. Thinking like that, you’ll reach your potential and finally, Success.

Success and failure are strongly connected. Most of the time success comes after a few previous failures, so don’t be afraid to fail. If you fail once, you already have an experience, so next time you’ll know how to do better.

5. People around you

It might sound weird, but this is true: wrong people around drag you down. Many people say that you’re the average of the five people you spend most of your time with. This saying might be true if you analyze it.

If you don’t have success, start looking around. If you spend a lot of time with people that are struggling with the same problems as you, their presence isn’t beneficial to you.

Sometimes, even your family is the one that stops you from succeeding. Your parents want the best for you, and that’s why they try to find a safe job with a decent salary, but sometimes this will make you to be just average.

There are few cases where parents will encourage you to take major risks and follow your dreams. In fact, this can be considered a real support from your family, but just a small number of people will get it.

You should analyze every advice you receive and try to decide if the person who advised you has a better life than you. If they aren’t doing extra things, if they aren’t pushing themselves, then you shouldn’t follow any of their pieces of advice.

Get out of your comfort zone by pushing your limits. Try new things, experience a lot, and put yourself in difficult situations. Talk to the people that you’re afraid to talk to and ask for a salary raise. The worst thing that can happen is to get “No” as a response.

Don’t forget about the risks. Bigger risks could mean bigger changes to achieve success. Always keep in mind that you could lose, but don’t focus just on that. Before taking a big risk, try to analyze, to calculate and to work smart. Doing this, you can avoid unpleasant situations and even failure.

If you don’t project a good image of yourself, nobody will do this for you. Trust your instincts, improve your knowledge, your body language and always learn new things and you’ll definitely grow your self-confidence.

The perfect moment doesn’t exist. Delaying in an unpleasant situation won’t fix the problem. Motivate yourself and start what you’ve planned a month or a year ago, no matter what the result will be. You’ll surely learn a lesson, and that’s the important part.

Finally, pay attention to the people you surround yourself with. They can have a bad impact on your life and they can hold you down from success. Even family members could stop you from reaching your true potential, and that’s why you need to think twice before following any advice you get from the people around you.
